Sr Marie Solange, our Moderator for today, opened with prayer. She said that yesterday had been a day with “lots of coffee” and she wondered what the Generalate the capitulants would serve today.  The morning was spent listening to the Report of the Congregational Leader with her team. This report consisted of five parts: Congregational Demographics, Fostering Unity, Communities under the Generalate, Specific Concerns and Tri-Generalate Common projects and new issues. Each topic was illustrated with some slides.

In turn, Sr Marife and the Councillors presented a part of the report using different languages.  After each part, the participants were invited to share in dyads what had touched them.

 

In the afternoon, the table groups were invited to reflect on what they had heard in the morning and to write down 4 points that they wanted this Chapter to discern further.  Then, it was Sr Laurentia’s turn to present the financial report. After a short reflection on what we had heard, Sr Jenny presented her report International Development Office (IDO) report. For the financial part, she was assisted by Sr Laurentia. After the report,  we were invited to add 2 more points to the list of 4 that we had created at the beginning of the afternoon.

Father Chris invited each of the table groups to present their points. The afternoon passed quickly, and before long, it was time for the Eucharist prepared by Sr Anne Marie, the Provincial of the Belgian Province. The assistance of the African Sisters guarantied beautiful singing.  After such a long day, we needed some recreation. The Social Commission presented the first “Fun for Nuns” evening by inviting Provinces to teach us a song or to play a game with us.  The Australian Sisters sang: Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree. Merry, merry king of the bush is he. But they made a more international version by singing a second verse: Carabaos sits under the mango tree. Merry, merry king of the field is he.Others presented a game in which you had to try to burst the balloon of others while trying to keep your balloon safe, and of course, there was a lot of dancing.

 

Rapports du Généralat

 

Sœur Marie Solange, notre modératrice de ce jour, a commencé par une prière. Elle a dit que la journée d’hier avait été une journée avec “beaucoup de café” et elle s’est demandée ce que le Généralat allait servir aux capitulantes aujourd’hui.

La matinée a été consacrée à l’écoute du rapport de la Supérieure générale avec son conseil. Ce rapport comprenait cinq parties : Démographie de la congrégation, Favoriser l’unité, Communautés sous le Généralat, Préoccupations spécifiques, Projets communs aux trois généralats et nouvelles questions. Chaque sujet était illustré par quelques diapositives.

 

A tour de rôle, Sr Marife et les Conseillères ont présenté une partie du rapport en s’exprimant dans des langues différentes.  Après chaque partie, les participantes ont été invitées à partager en binôme ce qui les avait touchés.

Durant l’après-midi, les Soeurs, réparties en différents groupes linguistiques, ont été invitées à réfléchir à ce qu’elles avaient entendu le matin en notant 4 points à retenir pour la suite du travail du chapitre.

Ensuite, c’était au tour de Sr Laurentia de présenter le rapport financier. Après une courte réflexion sur ce que nous avions entendu, Sr Jenny a présenté son rapport sur le Bureau de Développement international.

Pour la partie financière, elle était assistée par Sr Laurentia. Après le rapport, nous avons été invitées à ajouter 2 points supplémentaires d’attention à notre liste comprenant déjà 4 points.

Le Père Chris a invité les groupes à présenter leurs points d’attention.

 

L’après-midi s’est déroulé rapidement, c’était déjà l’heure de l’Eucharistie préparée par Sr Anne Marie, la Provinciale de la Province de Belgique. Les sœurs africaines ont soutenu la beauté des chants.

Après une si longue journée, nous avions besoin de nous distraire. La Commission sociale a présenté la première soirée “Fun for Nuns” en invitant les provinces à faire apprendre une chanson ou à faire jouer l’assemblée.  Les sœurs australiennes ont chanté bien évidemment en anglais : Kookaburra Le martin-chasseur est assis sur le vieux gommier. Il est joyeux, joyeux, le roi du bush. Puis elles ont proposé une version internationale en chantant un deuxième couplet: Le carabao (buffle) est couché sous le manguier. Il est joyeux, joyeux, le roi des champs.D’autres ont présenté un jeu où les participantes devaient essayer de détruire le ballon des autres tout en essayant de garder le sien en sécurité, et bien sûr, il y a eu beaucoup de danses.
