Our Logo and a Prayer for the General Conference

Brother Bien MSCThis is our Logo for the General Conference 2017. It is made by Br. Bien Pagalan Castil, MSC from the Philippines

And here is his reflection… The colors I chose represent life, hope and love.  The splatters represent brokenness, but the gesture of the hand sowing seeds of love symbolizes action to give life and hope to our world today.

Adolfo Perez Esquivel (1980), an Argentine human rights activist and recipient of the 1980 Nobel Peace Prize once said:

“We live in hope because we believe, like St. Paul, that love never dies. Human beings in the historical process have created enclaves of love by their active practice of solidarity throughout the world, and with a view to the full-orbed liberation of peoples and all humanity.

For me it is essential to have the inward pace and serenity of prayer in order to listen to the silence of God, which speaks to us, in our personal lives and in the history of our times, about the power of love.

Because of our faith in Christ and humankind, we must apply our humble efforts to the concentration of a more just and humane world. And I want to declare emphatically: Such a world is possible.

To create this new society, we must present outstretched and friendly hands, without hatred and rancor, even as we show great determination and never waver in the defense of truth and justice. Because we know that we cannot sow seeds with clenched fists. To sow we must open our hands.”

In a moment of silence, contemplate where we as sisters, as communities, as regions, as provinces, as congregation have been able to sow hope. Give thanks for all these opportunities.

Pray that the General Conference may inspire us to continue sowing seeds of hope and life in our broken world, so that we will able to show God’s loving heart everywhere.
