Our Facilitator, Father Chris Chaplin, msc and the Process of Communal Wisdom
In the letter of 6 July 2021, Sr. Marife presented Father Chris Chaplin msc as the new facilitator for our 20th General Chapter. Being a member of the Australian Province, Father Chris was elected to the General Leadership Team in 2017. Within this team, he is in charge of Ongoing Formation.
After the Council had shared with him their disillusionment of having had to postpone the Chapter that was already prepared, Father Chris proposed to start using the Communal Wisdom Process of prayerful Discernment for the preparatory meetings in the Council and, later on, for the Chapter. In the meetings that followed, we experienced how this process helped us to rekindle the enthusiasm for our task to organize the General Chapter. In this time of uncertainty, this process seemed appropriate for us to discover where the Holy Spirit is leading us.
The Communal Wisdom process starts with discernment on an individual level. Through deep listening each participant tries to discover the waves of the Spirit moving in her own heart. What are the movements? Are they freeing, life-giving or limiting, holding back? What do these movements within me say about my relationship with God?
After a time of silent reflection, the participants share their prayerful reflections. In the contribution of all the participants, we try to hear the wisdom of the Spirit. Then we experience that a group is more than the summation of many individuals. By returning to the point where we have experienced significant movements within individual participants or the group, our experiences will be funnelled 
from the ego-systemic level to an eco-systemic understanding, moving from the personal, community and provincial levels to the level of the congregation, church and world. This process will enable the group to make Spirit-led decisions.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Dans sa lettre du 6 juillet 2021, Sr. Marife a présenté le Père Chris Chaplin msc comme le nouvel animateur de notre 20ème Chapitre général. En tant que membre de la province d’Australie, le P. Chris a été élu à l’équipe de leadership général en 2017, au sein de laquelle il est responsable du programme de la formation permanente.
Après que le Conseil lui a partagé sa désillusion d’avoir dû reporter le Chapitre qui était déjà préparé, le Père Chris a proposé de commencer à utiliser le Processus de Sagesse Communautaire de Discernement dans la prière pour les réunions préparatoire du conseil et, plus tard, pour le Chapitre. Au cours des réunions qui ont suivies, nous avons fait l’expérience comment ce processus nous a aidées à raviver l’enthousiasme pour notre tâche d’organiser le Chapitre général. En cette période d’incertitudes, ce processus nous a semblé approprié pour découvrir où le Saint-Esprit nous conduit.
Le processus de sagesse communautaire commence par le discernement au niveau individuel. En écoutant attentivement, chaque participant essaie de découvrir les vagues de l’Esprit qui se meuvent dans son propre cœur. Quels sont les mouvements ? Sont-ils libérateurs, vivifiants ou limitants, contrariants ? Que disent ces mouvements en moi de ma relation avec Dieu ?
Après un temps de silence, les participants partagent leurs réflexions priantes. Dans la contribution de tous les participants, nous essayons d’entendre la sagesse de l’Esprit. Ensuite, nous faisons l’expérience qu’un groupe est plus que la somme de nombreux individus. En revenant au point où nous avons reconnu des mouvements significatifs chez les participants individuels ou au sein du groupe, nos expériences seront canalisées en passant du niveau ego-systémique à une compréhension éco-systémique, en passant des niveaux personnel, communautaire et provincial au niveau de la congrégation, de l’église et du monde. Ce processus permettra au groupe de prendre des décisions dirigées par l’Esprit. 
Viens Esprit Saint, remplis le cœur de tes fidèles et allume en eux le feu de ton amour. Envoie, Seigneur, ton Esprit, et tout sera créé. Et tu renouvelleras la face de la terre. O, Dieu, qui, par la lumière de l’Esprit Saint, a instruit le cœur de tes fidèles ; donne-nous, par ce même Esprit Saint de comprendre et d’aimer ce qui est bien, et de jouir sans cesse de ses divines consolations. Par Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur. Amen.
